Running a radio station? How about running a fire or police station? Or maybe even a factory or an office? With places like these, with many people milling about, workers doing their jobs or clients and customers passing through, keeping time is very important. To allow these people to keep time or to make it easier for them to keep time, one would need a very big timepiece. A large digital wall clock would be ideal in places such as these.
A large digital wall clock is a device that displays time in numbers that is eye-catching and easily readable. People with or without watches would rather look at large digital wall clocks rather than squint at their own little timepieces which are usually minutes advanced or minutes late. A locally installed large display digital wall clock keeps everybody in an establishment in-sync with that establishment’s local time. Whether the time is an hour or ten minutes in advance, if the boss says come to the office at ten minutes past three, it means ten minutes past three in that local area. A person’s watch may say its ten minutes past three but local time will tell him it’s already fifteen minutes past three.
Unlike the standard wall clock, a large digital wall clock is usually built in a metal or plastic rectangular frame to house the electronics and electrical components needed to run it. A large digital wall clock can have two types of displays. LCD or liquid crystal display and LED or light emitting diode display. LED displays consist of many small bulbs programmed to display numbers or characters. Many LED digital wall clocks can display things other than the time.
Good examples of large digital wall clocks can be seen in TV shows or in movies set on radio networks or TV stations. There is usually a large led digital wall clock displayed at the top of a radio announcer’s window or behind the announcer himself just above his seat. Stadiums have an extra large digital wall clock embedded on the score board or integrated with the game timer. Large digital wall clocks are known for their accuracy, being digital and all, with models that can connect and synchronize to the National Institute of Standards cesium atomic clock in Colorado using radio waves.
A large digital wall clock can be good display material in the living room for those clock fans, time and schedule control freaks or just the regular offbeat guy with a lot of money to spend. My five-year old daughter would love one since she constantly reminds me of what time it is or what date it is on the calendar. But why give myself the annoyance when it would be much more at home in the office where it can remind my associates that time is money, deadlines must be met and break time is only fifteen minutes.
